The Memphis Visitor Guide

Of course everybody knows that the "King of Rock n' Roll", Elvis Presley, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. But Elvis isn't alone in putting the city of Memphis on the map. W.C. Handy, the "Father of the Blues" also gained his celebrity status in Memphis. Music and a music legacy continue to lure tourists to this metropolis that sits atop a bluff overlooking the Mississippi.

Memphis is both a city of the old South and the 21st Century. Traditional Southern hospitality meets modern efficiency in the largest city of Tennessee; steam-driven Mississippi paddle boats and century-old cotton warehouses stand alongside gleaming office buildings. Probably the most notable of these new buildings is the reflective burnished steel-made Pyramid Arena.
